Tip Tracker Android App Released
Posted on 23. Dec, 2009 by Shawn McCool in Uncategorized
I’ve released my first Android application. I decided on something easy for my first app and I have to say.. Android development is incredibly simple. I think the app turned out really well. I have multiple upgrades planned including a free version (this version goes for 99 cents).
Upcoming versions will include trending analysis and spreadsheet export via email.

Hey Shawn,
Very Cool. What language did you use for this? I’ve done some windows mobile development with the compact framework but my knowledge of developing for android is minimal. My understanding is that one would use some sort of java/eclipse setup but apparently android also allows for scripting with lua and python.
If it’s too complicated to explain then just feel free to do a screencast
I know… shameless
@JakF
Java with Eclipse.

It’s super easy, actually. Just install the SDK, install Eclipse for Java, install the ADT plugin for eclipse, and configure eclipse.
All of the instructions are pretty easy to follow.
Once I finish a few more web tutorials I may dig into android.. But, I’m likely going to at least finish the current series of tutorials before I start any more. I’m finishing up a few projects so I should be able to turn out tutorials more frequently.
Not quite what I was hoping for. Have you considered an option for entering individual tips? I used to use Personal Tip Jar for that, but it’s gone from the Market =/
I’m working on a complete rewrite of the system. I sat down with a designer and redesigned the interface and some of the functionality.
