<p><a href="http://scratch.mit.edu">Scratch</a> is free and available for Windows or Mac.  I&#8217;m in love with the fact that children can create their own little games and embed them in web pages.</p>
<p><strong>Update: </strong>I made a <a href="http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ShawnMcCool/266451">time based animation and movement tutorial</a> in Scratch. You could help out by going to my project and clicking &#8220;I Love It&#8221; so that more kids will see it.</p>
